PEACE IS INDEED A POSITION OF POWER


Each day, opportunities arise to upset us, become frustrated or become offended.

Plans didn’t work out; someone was rude at your work place.

We can also bring it upon ourselves by performing a task which should have taken an hour and ended up taking three.

Life is full of inconveniences; but although circumstances cannot always be controlled, we can control our reactions to those circumstances.

Something so simple may be hard for others, but we should start each day with a positive attitude, full of hope and at the same time recognize most days are not going to go exactly as we plan.

People should remember, we were created to live in peace and were given a purpose driven life to lead.

Peace is indeed a position of power and if you become stressed or upset over petty situations, you’re giving up your power.

Make a decision to release those offenses and disappointments so you live in peace and move forward in the power and victory the Lord has for you!

Good sense makes a man restrain his anger, and it is his glory to overlook a transgression or an offense"

Memorial Day (A Letter to My Brother)


Greetings, On this Day of Remembrance which is called Memorial Day.

Sehal open its heart up to a wonderful friend and classmate by preserving his memory, as written by his loving sister Ms Renee D. Ferguson.

Renee is a loving Mother of a teen daughter; she is also engaged and owns her own line of jewelry while maintaining a full-time job. In-addition she holds a Bachelors degree in Telecommunications. She enjoys writing & reading poetry “spoken word”. Other interest include: Football, car racing, cooking, reading books. Sehal readers; come with me as we read a powerful letter of remembrance --- from the heart of the amazing sister ( letter to her big brother) of Mr. Duane Toatley.

When my brother passed, it felt as though I was hit by a ton of bricks. My heart was so very heavy, I couldn’t breathe and my train of thought dissipated.

I felt it all within a matter of seconds of being told the traumatic news. Who, what, why, when, where was all answered in the blink of an eye.

That’s how quickly it can happen, a milli-second, a life here today and gone tomorrow, my brother departed. His time in this world was already set. His life in the new world had begun and I’m joyful for his new beginning.

Of course, this was not my thought at the time, I was upset because in my mind, it was not his time and no one had the right to take him from me, his wife, children, mother, father, sister, and friends.

Though the Father wants only good for his children and would bring no harm or pain to them, he knows when it’s time to call us home.

Each of us had to continue to find peace within ourselves and bring it to the circle in which we live. We had to strive to be sources of love, compassion and comfort to one another through a time of not death, but celebration of life.

My brother the free spirit, deeply loved, athletically built, intellectual mind and true love for all was such a gift to us.

His smile was captivating and his gift of gab could persuade so easily. He gave his contribution while here on earth.

God replaced our sorrows with happiness; a touch of love is what he gives. God painted his canvas around you brother and you came alive, a new rebirth.

I treasure the memories and I also Thank God for the Blessing of remembrance.

Brother do your remember the days when we took turns playing 45 records in your room and pretend we’re Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell, oh and The Temptations singing and performing the dance moves to “Ball of Confusion”…what skills.

Do you remember when the family would drive to Florida for vacation and you & I would be in the backseat of the car having “Staring” contest. I could never win because your eyes would change colors and seemed as though they would spin like a gyroscope. I would always ask mom, how come he got the pretty eyes…I smile. I remember you allowing me to hang with you to the football and breakfast parties. You always checked on me to make sure I was ok and no one was trying to pick with me….my big bro.

Do you remember when we spent the night at our Aunts house and you made Cousin Ganie & I fight like we were in a boxing ring. Oh you had it all set up and ready for action. Once both of us starting crying from exhaustion, you let us stop and announce a winner or lack of…I laugh.

Do you remember when mom was calling us in the house from playing and we decided to race home. Mom was standing at the screen door holding it open for us and I ran into the ashtray she had in her hand because both of us couldn’t squeeze through. Wow, I had a black eye for about two weeks…ouch.

Do you remember when you made Chubby & I dance by shooting at our feet with a BB gun, like you were Clint Eastwood from one of his westerns….I laugh, then smile.

Do you remember during my Jr. Prom, my date & I were driving to a hotel, where I didn’t want to go. We saw you and gave you a lift home as you were walking from work and when you got out to go in the house, I did also…Thanks bro.

Do you remember when we went to our Aunt & Uncle’s house when they had crab feasts. We were so excited because we’d sneak in the kitchen and couldn’t believe how much crab meat was left. We later learned it was not crab meat but the lungs of the crab. We always wondered why it was so chewy and we couldn’t swallow it…yuck.

Do you remember when you enlisted in the Marine Corp and I was so proud of you. When you came home to visit, I would always brag and say...”My brother, the Few, the Proud, the “MARINE”….amazing!

I remember, I remember, I remember so much more and I will always Thank God for Memories, the good times, bad times, exciting times, special times, but it was all our time.

Protection of Love

Do you realize God commands everyone to Love?
If you observe 1 Corinthians it states love is the greatest thing.
Love is all that matters on this earth, and it's all that will last in eternity.
Be aware that the Love God refers to is limited.
It’s not, selfish or self-seeking love, nor is it evil.
We are protected when we walk in love.
If you bask in egotistical, self-centered love, it can open the door to confusion and every evil work.
But when we walk in love, when we choose to put others first, when we choose to be patient and kind and walk in unity, we are protected by love.
We close the door to the plans of the enemy in our lives.
Check your love walk and see if you emulate the characteristics of love.
Remember love is not a feeling, it’s a choice.
Choose love and feel the coverage of a force field of protection that cannot be penetrated.

LOVE BETWEEN THEM AND ME

I looked into the eyes of God and what did I see, the love he has for sinners and the first one was me.

All I wanted to know is that he still loves me and this is what he said to me. “I answered that question son long ago!”

Tell them I needed a miracle and they were all made into the image of me. I (God) opened my mouth and said “Let there Be!”

So each of us was made from your voice on the command of Let there Be?

Yes son you were made by Love and I used what I knew. I AM that I AM!

The earth obeys the command of “Let there Be?”

Tell them to look at the soil of life in it they will find me.

I’ve gave the Redeemer, it is what he does, why do they look for a man?

Who I’ve washed in my blood; somehow things got twisted, I AM still Love!

I do need them, I’ve always did --- who told them my soil was something to dread.

So son build their self-confidence in my authority, I say-so!

Now, be free, free to praise me and not what they do.

I’ll take care of that! I AM that I AM! I love it when they love me back.

Tell them remember the soil and the command, “Let there Be.”

Love between them and me! Selah!

STOP, READ and HEAR

“God's Love for You, God's Love for Me"


I pray that you ... may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long
and high and deep is the love of Christ (Ephesians 3:17-19).

When counseling with people suffering from anxiety or depression, I often take them to one of my favorite passages in the Bible: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). I love this verse because it says why we can cast our anxiety on God—because he cares for us. Imagine that! God, the creator of everything that exists, actually cares for you and me!

Do you experience God's love for us? Or do you sometimes think you are all alone in the world? Or that God doesn't love you? If so, you are not alone. Multitudes of people today, Christians and non-Christians, have similar thoughts. This was also true when Paul was alive. Look at what he said when he prayed that the Ephesians would deeply know God's love.

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen (Ephesians 3:16-21).

The Ephesians did not fully grasp God's love for them. If this is true of you, too, prayerfully study the following Scriptures on God's love for you. As you read, ask God to help you believe and accept the wonders of his mighty love for us.

Accept God's love for us and the new life Jesus offers.

Jesus offers each of us a walk with God and a fullness of life that is not possible without him. As he said, "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35), and "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). He also said, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again" (John 3:3). Jesus' death, resurrection, and offer of eternal life are the greatest manifestation of God's love for you.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).

WHAT IS ON MY MIND?


I wonder if we knew what we all would be like, without blaming, or making excuses for why we cannot be our best or do our best each day that we have under the sun? Selah!

We cannot run after the things of yesterday, the path of today is facing us and the blessing of another day, is a day away. So enjoy the Now, let it be what you cherish, be in the present and do it with matchless passion, do not let blessings slip through your finger tips today. NOW is all you have!

To encourage all in the beauty of God’s Work, be joyful as you set your heart towards God’s work today (He loves that). It is ok to work on your issues, to pray about your issues and to know you have issues. Wisdom speaks; let God take care of them, enabling you to help yourself and then others with a joyful heart.

However, if you are feeling low and cannot seem to shake it off, do not be a hypocrite (and I do understand). Remembering the Words of our Savior “first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye”.

Support those wonderful men or women of God and please do not take them for granted, support them in every way possible. First in your prayers and in your works (do, doer).

THE HEART OF A POEM


Sehal & Co. is filled with excitement over a young Poet and pause to highlight an original creation. She is talented with the ability to allow her readers to visualize the deep-rooted moment by the written words, which we call poetry.

First Cassandra is; a loving and dedicated, Sister, Aunt, Girlfriend and Mother figure. She is an extremely busy and intelligent young lady with a full time job who also graduated at the top of her class (4.0 GPA) from college, besides she loves to hit gym five days a week. Miss Fonseca with all her success, digested a bitter pill at the passing of her Beloved Mother --- which is at the heart of this Poem, her mother is and will always be her KEEPSAKE.

KEEPSAKE

I wish Heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again
I thought of you today, but that is nothing new
I thought about you yesterday and days before that too.
I think of you in silence, I often speak your name
All I have are memories and a picture in a frame.
Your memory is a keepsake, from which I’ll never part
God has you in his arms --- I have you in my heart.
